Why choose wood pellets for your animal bedding?

- Wood pellets are much more absorbant than straw, shavings & wood chip as they have such a low moisture content. They quickly absorb moisture and odour and prevent seepage between matting and floor providing a healthy & deodourised environment for your horse or other animal.

How to use wood pellets for animal bedding:
If you are starting from scratch in a standard sized stall, for a half bed use 4-6 bags and for a full deep litter bed use 6-10 bags.
- lay out bags on the floor, cut top of bags open.
- with a hose or watering can, add 1- 1 ½ gallons of water per bag.
- after a minute the nuts will begin to expand.
- after around 30 minutes they will be ready.
- turn bags out and run through with a fork to ‘fluff-up’
Wood pellet animal bedding maintenance:
- remove solids and wet patches with a suitable fork to allow clean bedding to fall through.
- replace bedding that has been removed with an equal amount of pellets.
- either damp the pellets before putting in with the bed or leave them to absorb residual moisture and break up on their own.
Result - happy, clean horse (or other animal!), reduced waste and less time taken!
We are a large livery yard in Surrey, of 50 horses. Since 2008 we have been using Midland Bio Energy Wood Pellets for our horse bedding, having looked at & tested several different ones prior to that date, we settled on your product. We have found the quality to be consistently good over the years. The deliveries are always as promised and the price is very competitive compared to other producers. The product is economical to use & produces a good bed for the horses with only 1 or 2 18kg bags added to the stable each week. The majority only use 1 bag a week.
The waste from the stables is minimal & produces excellent manure which we spread on to our fields after 1 year.
We would thoroughly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a different bedding to try.
Having, over the years, used Straw & Shavings, we would not consider a return to either of these products, because there is no odour from the wood and, as one of our barns has 28 indoor stables, this makes a huge difference. The savings in costs and amount of waste, and therefore time, is also significant.
